Today I walked into my local cigar shop looking to make another fine cigar purchase. In the past I had walked past the Don Lino Africa each time the very beautiful glossy box caught my eye. Today it caught my eye enough, and I bought one of the Kiboko’s. At first glance it was nice and oily, and shined in the light of the store. Unfortunately that was the best part of this cigar for me .

With the initial light up there was a very short woodsy, creamy aroma that went away after a minute or two. An enjoyable couple minutes of a medium leathery taste was the only enjoyable taste this cigar left in my mouth. Two thirds into smoking this cigar (15-20 mins) all hints of any flavors were lost for me. After smoking it down to halfway with no flavor a very strong bitter tangy flavor appeared. But I decided to press on and ride it out. Minutes later a very strong acidic flavor appeared, and never went away. It was so strong that I had to put it down, and stop smoking it.

As a guy who enjoys full bodied cigars I was very disappointed with this cigar. After the initial 20 minutes of creamyness left this cigar was very bland and tasteless. The strong acid flavor was a taste that I had never tasted before but it was bad enough that I would have a very hard time buying this cigar again.

    Very nice review Matt!

I’m glad to hear I wasn’t alone in disliking the Don Lino Africa. I didn’t get that strong acidic flavor you got, but that could be due to smoking the Duma vitola instead. Did you have burn issues as well, or did you give up on it before it started to get wild?

I didn’t care for it either. I expected way more from it.

“With the initial light up there was a very short woodsy, creamy aroma that went away after a minute or two.”

“An enjoyable couple minutes of a medium leathery taste was the only enjoyable taste”

So the woodsy, creamy aroma was not enjoyable?

” After the initial 20 minutes of creamyness left this cigar was very bland and tasteless.”

A minute or two or 20 minutes? have to ask because you next say:

What about the 20 minutes of creaminess. Is this them:

” Two thirds into smoking this cigar (15-20 mins) all hints of any flavors were lost for me.”
    or
“After smoking it down to halfway with no flavor”

What the hell happened with this cigar. Your review is all over the place – halfway down no flavor two-thirds flavors were lost. A couple of minutes, 20 minutes?

This review makes no sense to me at all.

Calm down Frank… Matthew is new to reviewing cigars. He will get it down soon.

  6. Matt had this to say about that:

Im sorry guys if some of you had problems with my review. I’m new to reviewing cigars but I’m just trying to write down what best I can. Ill have my style come to me, and yes I also did have burn issues with this cigar. Went out on me many times.
