Among one of the most original names for a cigar the, “Texas Jewboy” lies one of the most original Texan cowboys.  Kinky Friedman is known for his politics, but not a lot of people know he has his own cigar line… unless you live in Texas of course.  The 5 different vitolas he has specially blended himself are all “Texas Sized” in that the smallest ring gauge is “The Willie” weighing in at around a 48 ring gauge all the way up the “The Governor” at a 60 ring gauge.  No lanceros or coronas in this bunch.  All of the cigars are handmade in Honduras, they also feature a beautiful Habano wrapper grown in Honduras with a medium bodied filler blend of Honduran and Nicaraguan tobaccos and a Costa Rican binder.

The torpedo of the group is the Texas Jewboy, It is a hefty feeling cigar in the hand and looks to have wonderful construction.  The wrapper has a darker hue and has very few small veins.  Initial light up was of carmel and cedar.  This cigar was starting out great, I couldn’t wait to dig in and see how it progressed.  A slight spice was on the tip of the tongue but nothing overpowering.  Some coffee and leather started in the 2nd third and the spice tappered off.  The last 3rd was of more coffee and some sweetness, as if the carmel had returned.  This really was an excellent smoke that I really enjoyed.  These can be hard to find but I believe the Kinky Friedman site sells them.
