Dunbarton, NH – Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust® will be debuting the Sobremesa Brûlée® blend of fine handmade cigars at this year’s 87th Annual Convention of the International Premium Cigar & Pipe Retailers Association in Las Vegas, Nevada, June 28th through July 2nd, 2019.
“Sobremesa Brûlée is a recreation of the milder, shade wrapped ligas of my early years. Somewhere over the last three decades many of the classic shade cigars have become wispy, uninspiring and rather dull to my palate. I wanted to share with others the way I remember these blonde cigars being,” states Master Blender Steve Saka. “Also as ligador and tobacco man, I do not understand the recent trend of making strong Connecticut Shade cigars aka “not your grandfather’s cigar”. To me this seems like an oxymoron and a fundamental lack of appreciation of the enchanting characteristics and nuances of shade grown Connecticut Seed tobaccos. In Brûlée, I embraced this shade capa and dedicated myself to showcasing its mild, sweet and nutty nature.”
He continues to add, “The Brûlée is a variation of the core Sobremesa® liga in which the Pennsylvania Seedleaf ligero has been removed, the Condega Seco has been increased and the wrapper is replaced with a top shelf grade of BW Ecuador Connecticut Shade leaf. The result is a milder, even smoother adaptation of the Sobremesa blend that does not sacrifice its wonderfully complex flavors or aromas. This is not a cigar to be smoked casually, but rather a relaxing smoking experience meant to be savored slowly.”
Sobremesa Brûlée will be offered to Select Purveyors and it will be available in three vitolas: Brûlée Robusto – 5.25 x 52, Brûlée Toro – 6.00 x 52 and the Brûlée Gordo 6.25 x 60. Packed in 13 count dress boxes, the MSRP ranges from $12.45 to $13.95 per cigar. Initial availability will be very limited.
The anticipated ship date to those Select Purveyors who order at this year’s tradeshow is July 2019.
About Steve Saka:
Regarded as a cigar expert throughout the industry, he is credited as being an experienced cigar blender and maker, a prolific author regarding cigars and black tobaccos, a forefather within the online media segment and a dynamic tobacco industry executive. In 2000, he worked directly for Lew Rothman, the former owner of JR Cigar, as an executive consultant for four years and he subsequently served as the President, then CEO of Drew Estate from 2005 through 2013. In 2015, he established the family held Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust to craft and distribute traditional handmade puros. For more information, please visit: www.dunbartoncigars.com.

Crafted by Joya de Nicaragua, S.A. Master Blender: Sr. Steve Saka Esteli, Nicaragua
Sobremesa, “over the table”, has no precise English translation, perhaps because there is no cultural equivalent in the US. It is an idiom used among the Latin culture to describe the leisurely time spent tableside after you have finished dining, but before you rise. It is the experience of lingering casually with family and friends in conversation, relaxing, drinking, smoking, and enjoying each other’s company. Sobremesa is one of life’s simplest, yet greatest pleasures.
The Brûlée is a variation of the core Sobremesa liga in which the Pennsylvania Seedleaf ligero has been removed, the Condega Seco has been increased and the Capa is now a top shelf grade of Ecuador Connecticut Shade. The result is a milder, even smoother adaptation of the Sobremesa blend that continues to retain its wonderfully complex flavors and aromas.
Brûlée Robusto 5.25 x 52 Semi-Dressed FBN Box / 13ct
Brûlée Toro 6.00 x 52 Semi-Dressed FBN Box / 13ct
Brûlée Gordo 6.25 x 60 Semi-Dressed FBN Box / 13ct
Capa: Ecuador Connecticut Shade G2BW Capote: San Andreas Negro
Flavor Profile: A creamy liga with softer flavors of cedar, caramel and café, which are complimented by its inherent sweetness being allowed to blossom on the palate and nose – a nuttiness is also apparent within this blend.
Puro Style: Milder, yet flavorful and satisfying. Good for both the inexperienced and experienced palate.
My recreation of the mild shade ligas of my youth. Somewhere over the last three decades most Shade cigars have become wispy and uninspiring, dull and flat. I wanted to share with others the way I remember these blonde cigars to be.
As a blender, I do not understand the recent trend to make biting CT Shade cigars aka “not your grandfather’s shade cigar”. I view these as a novelty at best, in Brûlée I embraced the shade wrapper and worked to showcase its mild, sweet and nutty nature.
This cigar is a departure from the robust, full bodied blends I am best known for.
Not a cigar to be rushed through, it deserves relaxed focus to best be enjoyed.

(Miami, Florida) June 19, 2019— Casa Cuevas Cigars, makers of handmade premium cigars to release “La Mandarria” (translates to the sledgehammer) at 2019 IPCPR. La Mandarria brand was born out of the unfortunate robbery which occurred in February 2019 at the Casa Cuevas Cigars distribution center in Miami. Burglars used sledgehammers to break in and steal over 25,000 of the Casa Cuevas brands which included the Casa Cuevas Limited Edition Flaco and Casa Cuevas core line of cigars. The Cuevas family made the decision to forge ahead and create a cigar that will mark the era where they faced and overcame adversity.
For years The Cuevas family patriarch, Luis Cuevas Sr., has been the man behind the curtain for many popular cigar brands. Their factory, the Las Lavas Cigar Factory in the Dominican Republic, has created brands for some of the most globally popular cigar companies. It was only three years ago that the Cuevas family felt it was time to create their own brand: Casa Cuevas Cigars. Luis Jr., son of Luis Cuevas, Sr., who runs the Cuevas operations in Miami, looks to honor his father, who himself made many sacrifices, went through much adversity as a U.S. immigrant, and was forced to leave his homeland of Cuba many years ago.
President of Casa Cuevas Cigars, Luis Cuevas Jr. stated:” La Mandarria is a testament to the values that my father taught me as a child. He was a fighter who optimized the American dream. As a small cigar company, the robbery was an obstacle, but nothing he hasn’t been able to deal with in his storied past. The Mandarria represents the principal tool used against us, but also represents the strength and will of my father. We look forward to sharing “La Mandarria” with the public in Las Vegas at the 2019 IPCPR”.
The Mandarria is a full-bodied cigar that will be offered in only one vitola. The 6X52 Toro was chosen as Master Blender Luis Cuevas Sr. felt this vitola was a perfect balance between its strength, which is a representation of the “Mandarria” name, and the cigar’s nuanced flavors.
Wrapped in beautiful Ecuadorean Habano wrapper and featuring a pig tail and shaggy foot, these cigars will be the first full-body and full-strength cigars in the Casa Cuevas line-up. MSRP is $12.00 per cigar, and initial production will be limited to 500 boxes.
Casa Cuevas Cigars will also present the newly announced Cuevas Reserva brand, as well as the core Casa Cuevas line of cigars at their first ever booth (855) at the IPCPR at the Sands Convention center, Las Vegas.
ABOUT Casa Cuevas Cigars:
Casa Cuevas Cigars was established in 2016but has decades old history behind it. Cuban born Master Blender Luis Cuevas Sr. has been blending cigars from his factory in the Dominican Republic for many popular cigar brands. Now, together with son Luis Cuevas Jr., the Casa Cuevas Cigar brands were created to honor their four-generation cigar heritage. Cinco Décadas Fundador: the smoke to rise to the occasion
Friday, June 14, 2019 — Estelí, Nicaragua – In 2018, Joya de Nicaragua celebrated its 50th anniversary by sharing with consumers around the world the best cigar that has ever come out of its factory: Cinco Décadas. From the very first day the company’s strength has lied in its people, who have always been committed to achieving the highest levels of excellence. Today we pay tribute to the visionaries that ignited the Nicaraguan cigar industry, Juan Francisco Bermejo and Simón Camacho. Now, the finest blend of Cinco Decades honors their lofty standard, therefore we named it Fundador.
“When we conceived the concept of the brand, we decided that every year until the next big anniversary, we would nationally release a size that would pay tribute to key characters that shaped the story of our company, and thus, today we commemorate the vision of two immigrant businessmen that transformed our country” said Dr. Alejandro Martinez Cuenca, Chairman and Owner of Joya de Nicaragua.
Cinco Décadas, with a perfect construction, is a cigar of unparalleled elegance. Made exclusively with our prime extra-vintage leaves taken from our most exclusive collection of tobaccos, it carries an immaculate balance accompanied by a luxurious complexity of sweet and spicy flavors. Its silky-smooth smoke delivers a rich and fulfilling experience.
“This stunning cigar comes in a 6 x 54 soft pressed format that will captivate you the moment you light it” extolled Dr. Martínez Cuenca. This Gran Toro comes in a 10ct box with an MSRP of $20 per stick, and will only be available at selected retailers around the world. In the United States it is a DDRP Exclusive product, that will be shipping as of July 2019.
Cinco Décadas Fundador will be showcased this June at the 87th IPCPR Convention and Trade Show in Las Vegas for all US retailers, and at Intertabac in Dortmund in September. We invite all to rise to the occasion and pay tribute to those who made it possible for us to enjoy Nicaraguan cigars around the world, and to already expect next year’s commemoration to other protagonists of the story of The Most Nicaraguan Cigar.
About Joya de Nicaragua
Established in 1968, Joya de Nicaragua is Nicaragua’s first and oldest cigar factory in operation.
JDN’s commitment to quality along with their skillful and resilient people have brought their handmade cigars to over 50 countries around the world, making it Nicaragua’s most international brand.
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Altadis U.S.A. is celebrating a special milestone as the H. Upmann cigar brand turns 175 years old. The limited-edition H. Upmann 175th Anniversary will commemorate one of the oldest and most renowned cigars brands. This limited edition will only be expressed in the iconic Churchill size, in 10 count boxes that will number to 14,750. Fifty special-edition humidors containing 50 cigars will also be offered. The story of H. Upmann cigars is one of adventure, family, and passion for tobacco.
It all began in 1843, when German banker Herman Upmann took a leap of faith and moved to Havana, Cuba, to open a branch for his family bank. He created a small batch of cigars for his best clients, but quickly became impassioned with tobacco. A passion that led him to found his own cigar brand in 1844, joined by his younger brother August. The brothers purchased a small cigar factory and diligently learned to combine tobacco artistry and German ingenuity. 175 years later, H. Upmann is still known the world over.
For this special project, H. Upmann tapped A.J. Fernandez who brought forward the extremely elusive “Medio Tiempo” wrapper – grown on 1 out of every 12 tobacco plants above the ligero leaves -, to add complexity and flavor as the final dressing of this Nicaraguan puro. A.J. and his team carefully harvested this special leaf and utilized very intricate fermentation processes for over 3 years which, while extremely time consuming, bring out the very best in the medio tiempo leaf.
The H. Upmann 175th Anniversary boasts unparalleled flavors for a unique sophisticated smoking experience. This medium to full body cigar starts with elements of coffee and some earthiness. As the cigar develops, the flavors intensify with caramel and salt notes together with roasted espresso bean overtones. The spectacular clean finish delivers a creamy and uncommonly velvet smoke with a rich and resonant balance of spices, dark chocolate and nuts.
From Rafael Nodal, Head of Product Capability for Tabacalera USA: “One of the things that I love about creating new blends, is the constant learning about tobacco. Working with AJ Fernández and the rarest wrapper in the world, Medio Tiempo, has definitely been a unique and rewarding experience. There are great cigars and then there is the H. Upmann 175th Anniversary blend. An unforgettable cigar.”.
Candela Diaz, Brand Manager for H. Upmann: “H. Upmann is one of the most storied cigar brands. It was impossible to pass up an opportunity to commemorate this brand that embodies brotherhood and love of tobacco. We look forward to unveiling the H. Upmann 175 at the 2019 IPCPR in Las Vegas.”
The H. Upmann 175th Anniversary will ship to retailers in July 2019.

Litto Gomez and Boris Wintermans Collaborate for Release of Paso Doble
June 13th, 2019 (Bradenton, Fla.) – Royal Agio Cigars USA announced today that they will be introducing PASO DOBLE, the second cigar blend released under the collaboration-based Balmoral Serie Signaturas (Signature Series) platform. This follows the release of the Balmoral Serie Signaturas DUETO in 2018, a special collaboration blend with Ernesto Pérez-Carrillo.
For this second release, Boris Wintermans joined forces with the esteemed Litto Gomez to create an inspiring and truly one-of-a-kind cigar blend that intertwines each cigar makers’ most coveted tobaccos and blending signatures. PASO DOBLE will be presented in the Royal Agio booth (#3638) at the 2019 IPCPR Tradeshow in Las Vegas, NV.
PASO DOBLE was born of a collaboration between two world-renowned cigar makers known for their ambitious desires to define, in their own unique way, what it means to be boutique.
Litto Gomez and Boris Wintermans share a similar passion for developing inspiring, one-of-a-kind blends, and each has their own method for getting there. Litto incorporates specially-grown tobaccos from his personal farm in La Canela, Dominican Republic, while Boris relentlessly searches the globe for the most unique premium tobaccos.
PASO DOBLE combines each cigar makers’ dearest tobaccos and intertwines them into a distinct dance of flavors that stays true to each cigar maker’s signature blending style – the dark, full-bodied opulence of Litto Gomez’ La Flor Dominicana and the sophisticated, balanced complexity of Boris Wintermans’ Balmoral cigars.
When asked about PASO DOBLE, Boris Wintermans, 4th generation CEO for Royal Agio Cigars, stated, “I have a tremendous amount of respect for Litto’s work and the fact that, like me, he is obsessively passionate about pushing the boundaries of what can be discovered in premium cigar blending. For this special collaboration project, we placed all of our respective, coveted tobaccos on the table and went to work exploring a wide range of unique and exciting blending possibilities, never really knowing the final outcome. I am proud to say that, in the end, we turned a blank cigar canvas into a one-of-a-kind, inspiring discovery in cigar blending for cigar lovers everywhere to enjoy.”
From his Tabacalera La Flor factory in La Canela, Litto Gomez commented “Last year we partnered with Boris and his team at Agio to distribute our products in Germany and The Netherlands, and we were so impressed with their professionalism and dedication, that when Boris asked me to collaborate on a blend with him, I did not think twice. This is not something we normally do, in fact we never do it, but for Boris I made an exception because we share the same simple philosophy, to be the best and do things the right way. The process behind Paso Doble has been an absolute pleasure, from concept, to design, to blending, Boris and his team have been phenomenal throughout and the result is a very special cigar that smokes just as beautifully as it looks!”
Finished with an elegant, Ecuador Habano wrapper, PASO DOBLE will be presented in the following three vitolas, packaged in 10-count boxes – Robusto 5 3/4 x 50 (MSRP $11.25), Gran Toro 6 ¼ x 54 (MSRP $12.00) and Brindis (Figurado) 7 x 55 (MSRP $16.50). Shipments to U.S. retailers will begin August, 2019.

The patriarch of the four-generation tobacco family, Luis Cuevas Sr. originally introduced the Cuevas Reserva brand in the early 2000’s and was limited in availability until now.
Luis Cuevas Sr. introduced the Casa Reserva brand in the early 2000’s but was faced with a huge dilemma. At that point, it was either take a chance and put forth efforts (and capital) to introduce his own brand, or concentrate on his newly thriving factory, which was blending and rolling quality private label cigars for other companies.

As with all things in life, plans always change. I am proud to have worked closely with my father and my son Alec Cuevas, who is now part of the family business recreating this blend. I am ecstatic that this brand has come full circle, as we can now present it as a family project to the consumer.”

Aganorsa leaf has added an exciting new blend in three unique perfecto sizes to the JFR Lunatic brand. Lunatic Loco consists of three GIANT Perfecto Nicaraguan puros in 4.75 x 60, 4.75 x 70, and 5.5 x 80 vitolas. The cigars are made with 100% Aganorsa Leaf tobacco and are wrapped in the proprietary Shade Grown Corojo Maduro cover leaf grown exclusively by Aganorsa in Jalapa, Nicaragua. Medium to full flavored with a rich body and a long, sweet finish, Lunatic Loco stays true to its name with this series of cigars that push the boundaries of both size and flavor.

Max Fernandez states: “Some have told us that growing Maduro capa like this is in Nicaragua is impossible and unrewarding. I guess you can call us crazy because we believed we could create a Maduro unlike any other. The only reason we make cigars is to show the delicious beauty of the soils of Nicaragua and perfect the expression of flavors. The size of the Lunatic Perfectos in this case only adds to the elegance of these cigars.”
Lunatic Loco will be available at IPCPR in three fat perfecto vitolas: El Loquito (4.75 x 60), El Loco (4.75 x 70), and El Gran Loco (5.5 x 80). All are packaged in boxes of ten cigars. Suggested retail prices will range from $8.70-$9.99.
